It began the night beforeโฆ The DGWC big hitters were out on the cobbles of Woking town in the official Warm-up and pre-qualifying session. It started as a relatively tame affair with little incident to note, however as time continued the athletes true potential came to light!
Leading the charge was Mr Whitehead, fresh from his time away from the DGWC, he was keen to make an impression. He instigated many a shot in some of the more risquรฉ watering holes of the town.
Other athletes to note were Sir Ian Horlock, after acquiring mysterious marks on his shoulders. His actions may never be truly realised, but we all suspect he was just gagging for it assaulted.ย
A special mention is in order for Sir Alfonso Lanzetta for being the nominated taxi driver for a number of athletes, and for his 15 minute row with Sir Goodman over the phone for being woken up at 3am.
Fresh form the night before the teams congregated for the ritual breakfast in the Wetherspoons clubhouse. This year saw the groups being drawn from the cup in what was a staggering display of organisation from newcomer, Mr Matt Jarred. Expectation was growing and the anticipation was getting too much for some, with Sir Matthew Gaskin suffering from a pre-game, nerve-induced nosebleed.ย
With the sun in full blaze, the drinks were flowing as the teams arrived at Landor International to begin the 2014 DGWC.ย
Making it's return to the 2014 DGWC was the Car-Cam. This formidable remote controlled car was fully equipped with the latest 4x4 off-road technology and was able to get right into the heart of the action! Some of the athletes became victim to the aggressive driving style, with various participants and spectators leaving with bruises on their shins, with Mr Riddell in particular playing in the Final of the tournament with tyre burns on his arm.
